Yes - mildly. Everyones pain threshold is different but its not intolerable. Of course, some spots hurt more than others, and the amount of time spent getting your tattoo will also effect the pain.
Are tattoos expensive?
Not when you think about how long you will have your tattoo for! Some tattoo artists charge more than others but good art is well worth the extra investment.
Can you catch anything?
Not if the tattoo studio you go to is clean and conscious about their practices. Not re-using things is a big part but wrapping things and wiping down regularly helps with cross contaminating. Obviously an autoclave operating correctly drastically reduces risk.
Did you need to be naked?
If the tattoo area requires it but rarely in my 10 years have I had to have a client exposed. There are many ways to work around the customer being uncomfortable.
How long did the tattoo take?
Depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo design it can take 10 minutes or hours and repeat visits for larger tattoos.
Is that tattoo real?
Original custom tattoos today have been brought to a level that makes people question. With portraits looking like photos and tattoo artists changing texture and depth to the body the quality and subject matter sometimes make me wonder what's next?
What should I get?
Believe it or not some people want no part of even deciding their tattoo design. My opinion is get a tattoo that appeals to you or represents you in some way. I've never asked this question, I usually TELL the artist what I want.
